New App Allows Parents To Track Students’ Buses

Kerry Burkley was always worried about when her son got to school. Thanks to a new app she now has some relief. The app allows her to track the bus route and see when her son gets on and off of the bus.

The app was created by Collier County Public Schools. The name of the app is called WherestheBus. People can look at multiple bus routes if they have more than one child. Over 20,000 students who attend Collier County Public Schools ride the bus. Many of these students ride the bus twice a day.

Parents will be able to ride the download the app from the Apple Store or Google Play store. They will have to put in valid student information in order to use the app. Chad Oliver is a spokesperson for Collier County Public Schools. He stated that this app is designed to reduce stress among parents.

The school district began to test the app during the 2017 to 2018 school year. It costs $35,000 a year to operate. Kerry is a big fan of the app. She stated that it will help parents who worry like her.

Kerry’s son is a special needs child. He has seizures and has to follow a modified curriculum. Kerry’s son loves riding the bus. He also like the app.

Kerry also has a 14-year-old daughter named Lily. She doesn’t always feel the need to check up on Lily, but she loves the fact that the app gives her the option of doing that. Kerry says that the app is user-friendly.

Kamela Patton is the superintendent. She said that they have received positive feedback ever since the app first came out. She encourages parents to use the app from now until the end of the school year. Kerry wishes the app would have come out sooner, but she is happy to have it.
