The two largest sites to buy and sell items are the American-based Amazon and the Chinese-based Alibaba. Both of these sites are so popular that many people make a living by using the sites to sell products. However, what many people do not realize is that a large number of the items that are sold on Amazon are actually purchased on Alibaba first. This is because the prices that people can pay for certain items in China are very cheap. These people can then turn around and sell the same item on Amazon for a big profit.
This practice is becoming more popular every day. In fact, there are many people who are doing this who do not even live in China or the United States. They simply buy the item from Alibaba and have it shipped to an Amazon facility in the United States. The buyer never even sees the item. After the item is sold, it is packaged and shipped by Amazon. This is a service that sellers can use that is called Fulfillment By Amazon. In fact, Amazon will even agree to provide customer service in case the buyer has any questions about the product.
In many cases, items are sold on Amazon for literally three times what they were purchased for on Alibaba. The people buying the items on Amazon have no indication that the product was first purchased on Alibaba. Amazon policy forces sellers to include a label on their items that lists their name and contact info. Therefore, it appears to buyers as if the package is coming from that particular seller. However, the reality is that this seller might never have touched the product being sold. This can create problems because there is no quality control. The seller has no way of knowing if there is anything wrong with the item because he or she has never seen it.
That having been said, the practice of buying on Alibaba and selling on Amazon will not be ending any time soon. There is an enormous amount of money that is being made by people who are doing this. However, Amazon’s new policy of allowing buyers to request an instant refund without contacting the seller first might be a problem for some sellers in foreign countries. It remains to be seen how much of an impact this will have on people who are using this method.
