Blizzard has confirmed that Doomfist is coming to the popular hero shooter Overwatch thereby laying to rest the rumors and speculations.
Blizzard revealed the addition of Doomfist to Overwatch through a trailer showcasing his backstory and a developer update that explained what you can expect in terms of a move set.
Doomfist is an offensive class character, joining the likes of Tracer, Soldier 76, and Reaper. His attacks are close range with a gauntlet on his right hand allowing him to punch through shields and can fire shotgun shells from his left hand. His ultimate ability, Meteor Strike launches him into the air and crashes into the ground for maximum damage.
His second ability channels his internal Street Fighter with an uppercut that would make Ryu jealous. Called Rising Uppercut, Doomfist punches his opponent into the air and follows them.
The next ability in his arsenal is Rocket Punch. After charging up his fist for a brief period, he lunges forward and knocks an enemy back, dealing increased damage if they impact a wall.
Doomfist also comes with a passive ability known as “The Best Defense…” When he deals ability damage, he generate temporary personal shields to help him stay in the fight longer.
The signature of Doomfist’s kit is the ultimate ability, Meteor Strike. Doomfist leaps into the sky then comes crashing down dealing significant damage to a large area.
The character is available to play for PC users on the game’s Public Test Real servers. Console players and main servers should see the new character in a few days.
